Sam & Irma's Cottage

ca. 1926

The cottage, nicknamed “Sam & Irma’s” after the caretakers who lived there in the 30s and 40s, is tucked in the woods behind the Douglas Ellington House. It features the same unique style and building materials of the main house. Inside, the space has been tastefully updated with modern amenities to provide a comfortable stay. These include a main room with HVAC, internet, a queen size bed, closet space, mini-fridge, microwave, console, and dresser drawers. Situated off the bedroom is a private bathroom with soaking tub, toilet, mirror, and sink console. Located less than 10 minutes from the heart of downtown Asheville.

The centerpiece to Sam & Irma's is the chevron-shaped window over the soaking tub... a nod to Douglas Ellington's famous motif used in his civic projects. Guests will enjoy having cocktails on the garage terrace, listening to the creek, and exploring the 8-acre property. The main house, garage, and other outbuildings are private.
